Publicis S.A. in Paris has acquired stakes in and formed affiliations with agencies in Asia. Terms were not disclosed.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Publicis acquired Wet Desert, which has billings estimated at $18.2 million at three advertising units — Union 45, Angsana and Adsell — as well as agencies specializing in direct marketing, public relations and design. Clients include Citibank, Sharp and Visa. The agency, with 120 employees, will be renamed Publicis-Wet Desert; Jeanet Yeo will continue to head the agency as director.

In Lahore, Pakistan, Publicis acquired a 60 percent stake in Headstart, which will be renamed Publicis and works for clients including Coca-Cola and Nestle. And in Hong Kong and China, Publicis formed an affiliation with Ad Link that could lead to an acquisition. Ad Link has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Changdu and works for clients including British Airways, L’Oreal and Qantas.
