DaimlerChrysler is consolidating the global advertising creative account for its Chrysler Group brands into a single agency. The account is worth close to &£1bn.

The company has said that one of the two networks – FCB Worldwide and BBDO Worldwide – which already handles its business will get the entire account.

In the UK, the £15m Chrysler business is handled by Banks Hoggins O’Shea/FCB. If BBDO wins the business, the account would go to Abbot Mead Vickers.BDDO, which already handles the Ford-owned brand Volvo.

The brands set to be consolidated are Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep.

The proposals must be submitted by October 6, and a decision is expected at the end of that month.

DaimlerChrysler merged its entire media buying and planning business into DCMA – a joint venture between CIA and FCB last year. DCMA now handles the media for DaimlerChrysler in every market except USA, Canada, Mexico and Germany. A review of the media account, the contract for which is understood to have another year to run, could follow the creative review.

True North, which owns FCB, has confirmed that it has taken a 35.5 per cent stake in Hamburg-based Springer & Jacoby. Springer & Jacoby, which has an office in London, handles DaimlerChrysler’s Mercedes Benz business in Germany.
