BEIJING- China Telecom(中国电信) has believed to appoint Carat Beijing(凯络媒体) as its new media partner following a competitive pitch which included incumbent Starcom Beijing and Mindshare Beijing.

The media account should exclude CCTV buying, which managed by local media agency Charm Communications.

Though China’s three telecommunications operaters all kick off their 3G services, all saw poor performance on attracting 3G users, after dazzling, spectacular and massive advertising push.

Several days ago, China Telecom also announced a partnership with RIM to introduce smart handset Blackberry to its customers in face of China Unicom’s initiative with iPhone.

Starcom Beijing has handled the account for last two years, and the agency’s sibling Starcom IP also lost the digital media part to Neo@Ogilvy earlier.
