SHANGHAI – Omnicom Media Group China, which manages OMD and PHD brands, now further strengthens its operations with the appointment of Lisa Wei(魏丽锦) as CEO of OPera and Sonia Lee(李晓红) as Managing Partner, with a key focus on the PepsiCo business in China.

In her new role, Lisa Wei will oversee the OPera business unit in China, which manages trading related operations for both OMD and PHD.

Lisa was previously Partner – Client Leadership at Mindshare China, where she led new business development, client relationship and strategic partner business development. Lisa will be based in Beijing and will report directly in to Elaine Ip, Chief Executive of Omnicom Media Group China.

Sonia Lee(李晓红) joins Omnicom Media Group China from Mediaedge:cia. Armed with over 17 years experience, Sonia started her media career in 1994 where she joined Dentsu Young & Rubicam as a media executive working on Colgate. She later joined EURO RSCG as media manager and moved to Mindshare to work on clients such as INTEL and Philips.

In 2001, Sonia joined Zenith Media, working on local and international businesses including clients like Heinz, 999, Ping An Insurance, Robust, Zhujiang Beer, Belle and Anchor Beer.

She was later promoted to Group Planning Director responsible for management and new business development in 2004.In April 2006 she joined Mediaedge:cia to set up Colgate China Media in Guangzhou to manage the Colgate-Palmolive and Hawley & Hazel’s businesses, and took the role as Managing Director.Sonia will be based in the network’s Guangzhou office.

Commenting on the appointments, Elaine said: “We are delighted to have Lisa and Sonia join the ranks at Omnicom Media Group China. Lisa is very well-established and highly respected in her field and Sonia has a proven track record in her area. I believe their strong experiences would be an asset to our business. They both have the right skill set to build on our Group’s established position in China.”

OPera is the Omnicom media buying powerhouse that was set up in 2004 as a 50:50 joint venture between OMD and PHD. It handles negotiations across TV, Radio, Cinema, Press and Online, working closely with the buying, planning and Strategic Business Unit divisions within each OMG Agency.
