SHANGHAI- Independent PR network Text 100(科闻一百) has announced to promote current Shanghai managing consultant Michelle Yang (杨婷婷) to be China MD.The restructure is majorly in response to some key changes at Text 100’s China business which will see 杨丽冰(Candice Young), current managing consultant of Text 100 Beijing, leave the agency soon.Rowan Benecke, Text 100 regional director for Asia Pacific, added that its One China leadership move was in line with its strategy to expand its client focus into the consumer marketing and corporate communications realms.

Michelle Yang takes the reigns at a time of strong growth for Text 100 China, which has seen growth of 200% in the past year.

Benecke said that growth was stemming from its consumer marketing focus and its social media offering, now fully lead by global social media lead Jeremy Woolf.

Michelle Yang joined Text 100 in 2008 following more than a decade of public relations experience in China and Taiwan, including serving as Deputy Market Leader for Burson-Marsteller in Shanghai, and Director for Ogilvy Public Relations in Taipei.

Benecke said a centralised leadership team in China will focus on creating a more uniformed offering to make faster decisions, develop shared goals for business and career planning and improve inter-office collaboration across account teams.

“We will continue to do a lot more work beyond the technology world, looking at consumer and corporate areas. This is true for many of our markets worldwide,” Benecke said.
