BEIJING– Golin Harris(高诚公关) incumbent client The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation has engaged the Beijing office of GolinHarris to support the destination’s presence at the Shanghai World Expo through launching a creative on-line campaign.

“Design the Best Itinerary, and Win a trip to The Bahamas” is a competition allowing participants to plan their own ideal vacation to The Bahamas, selecting from a choice of six islands. To sustain momentum throughout the Expo, the campaign will be held in ‘two waves’, with winners awarded a trip for two, to be announced on August 5, 2010 and November 5, 2010, respectively.

GH created the campaign as an effort to excite and engage Chinese people and raise awareness through participation, ahead of organizing an inaugural group trip to The Bahamas from China, slated for late summer.

“The expected 70 million visitors to the Expo is enormous, but the 404 million Chinese that log online everyday is an even larger audience. So we wanted to give these people, whether offline or online, the chance to experience The Bahamas,” said Warren Wang, General Manager of the Beijing office of Golin Harris.

Last November, GH brought a group of key Chinese tour operators to The Bahamas to gain a personal experience of the tourism product and strengthen relationships. Together with GH and the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, they will serve as the judging panel for awarding the best itineraries in the campaign. In addition to The Bahamas, GH is supporting a number of clients at the Expo, including Trinidad and Tobago, Zespri, and Dow Chemical.
