HONG KONG – GolinHarris has promoted Jeremy Walker to managing director of its Hong Kong office, effective March 5.

Walker joined the agency in 2010 as head of sports marketing and branded entertainment and leads some of the office’s largest client programs and assignments. Walker will report to Matt Neale, president, GH International. He replaces John Morgan, who is leaving the agency at the end of February to pursue other opportunities. Walker and Morgan will work closely together during the leadership transition.

“Jeremy is a strong leader with extensive experience in developing and executing strategic communications programs and managing teams,” said Neale. “He also brings broad experience and deep understanding of the Hong Kong PR scene, garnered over 17 years in the region. We look forward to working with him to continue to build GolinHarris in Hong Kong. He will be a valuable addition to our leadership team in the region.”

Fred Cook added, “John Morgan has added tremendous value to our operations in Hong Kong and Greater China during his tenure with GolinHarris. Under his leadership, the Hong Kong office has grown and prospered, adding a number of high-profile clients across diverse sectors, particularly in corporate affairs, local government and consumer marketing. We wish him well.”

In his new role as managing director, Walker will be responsible for managing the office’s major account relationships, day-to-day business operations and new business development. In addition, he will be responsible for leading the agency’s restructuring efforts in the office. Last year, GolinHarris announced a major organizational redesign to address the increasing influence of digital and social media in communications. The agency’s new model, called g4, is built around four global teams of dedicated specialists that work seamlessly to provide clients with deep business insights, bold ideas and broad engagement between earned, paid, owned and shared media.

Prior to joining GolinHarris, Walker was president of Leisure Resources, a sports marketing consultancy based in Hong Kong. He provided strategic counsel, events and integrated marketing and communications services for blue chip clients across an array of industries. Walker has more than 17 years of working experience in Asia, particularly in media and communications, loyalty marketing, event management and sponsorship activation.

“I am delighted to be stepping into this role at one of the most exciting times in GolinHarris’ history,” said Walker. “I am looking forward to working more broadly with our clients and our people to continue to build the reputation of the brand in Hong Kong.”
