Various sources told MadisonBoom that, Chris Tung(董本洪), current CEO of VML China, digital agency network under Y&R Brands, will step down and set to join in Alibaba Group.

We also heard that, He will take the Chief Marketing Officer role for the whole group. That's a big and unusual step for the leading e-commerce titan, considering its talent consuetude.

In earlier 2015, a statement from Alibaba revealed that, its longtime PR/Marketing lead Shuai Wang (王帅) would move on into corporate strategy committee, along with another three senior leaders Jian Wang, Xiaofeng Shao and Ming Zeng.

Shuai Wang is a member of Alibaba Partnership and remains as Senior Vice President at Alibaba Group. He initially joined in Alibaba in 2003, and took various positions within the group, such as Alibaba PR Director / Taobao PR Director. He was promoted to CMO of Alibaba Group in 2011.

Proven track record in delivering successful result of brandcommunication, product innovation and digital engagement, Tung have managed 4of top 100 brands in the world by working for P&G, L'Oreal, Pepsi in different markets in last 18 years. He served as VP of Marketing at PepsiCo China from 2004 to 2010.

Tung have strong start-up experience in digital space by foundingthe NASDAQ listed company- Gigamedia in 1998. In 2010, he moved to lead local digital agency im2.0 as CEO. With strong and rapid growth, im2.0 was acquired by VML of WPP in Oct. 2013. Then he lead VML China operations as CEO until now.

Another insider told us that, Current COO Yi-Chung Tay(郑于聪) will replace Tung to head up VML China operations, which includes VML(IM2.0) and Teein.
