LONDON: It's a polar situation for WPP, as its JWT gain Nokia's estimated £100m global network advertising account, but it also mean the long-time incumbent Bates/Grey lose. Especially for Bates Asia, which survived in 2003,due to its twinkling grip on very Nokia accounts in Asia.

So we should guess where Bates Asia lead to? another Batey or D'Arcy ?

The appointment of the WPP Group agency comes one month after Wieden & Kennedy was appointed as the global lead creative agency on Nokia's £175m handset business. Nokia split its network and handset business into two, and shortlisted DDB, JWT and Bates Asia/Grey for the network distribution global account.

JWT will support the lead agencies in the implementation and localisation of global campaigns and take on a global strategy role. The agency will also support local marketing campaigns in more than 80 markets worldwide.
JWT will begin handling the account during the autumn, with the transition expected to be completed by January 2008.Revenue on JWT's portion is approximately $15 million, sources said.
