BEIJING – Draft FCB’s Beijing office has resumed operations after being suspended after one-and-a-half years. The office, which was downsized in June 2009, has been making a series of recruitments over the past two weeks. Pully Chau, who joined Draft FCB as Greater China CEO in July 2010, said client needs is the main reason behind the reopening of the Beijing office. "We have won a few new business clients based in Beijing over the past six months — Mengniu Telunsu, Kunlun Mountain mineral water and Fulinmen," she said. "When we were invited to pitch we did not have a Beijing office. Clients still shortlisted us and asked for office commitment after the wins." She added there are also network businesses being activated in Beijing, including Boeing and Volkswagen. According to Chau, the Beijing office currently has a full team of 15 people on the ground and expects to grow to 30 by Q2. "We'll further expand based on client needs," she said. Currently Michael Chang, VP for business development, and Eddie Wong, national ECD, are taking care of the daily operations of the Beijing office. The latest addition to the office is Eagle Xie, who will be deputy creative director. Draft FCB Shanghai has also recruited three new creative directors – Marc Wang, Yvonne Zhang and Leo Lee.
