HONG KONG- Euro RSCG(灵智) Asia Pacific today announced the appointment of Joseph Wang(汪少杰) to the newly created role of North Asia Chairman. In this role, Wang will be responsible for overseeing operations in Korea, Japan and Greater China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will report to Euro RSCG's new regional CEO, Olivier Pluquet and be based in China "Joe has an incredibly strong reputation in the region and is a proven expert in building and growing a network both organically and through strategic acquisitions," said David Jones, Global CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide. "Greater China is now one of our fastest growing markets globally, and this appointment on the heels of Olivier's arrival reinforces the exceptional management team in place throughout the region and will make us an even more formidable force in Asia." "Last year we won over 150 new accounts in Asia, and so far this year we've added the likes of Hershey's, Chivas, UPS, Carrefour and Bank of China to our client roster. We've got strong business momentum in the region, and we need the right individuals to help build on this. By establishing a regional management team that can grow our local offices and also help win large regional accounts, I'm confident that we can continue to exceed expectations in Asia," said Olivier Pluquet, CEO, Euro RSCG Asia Pacific. "Joe's expertise in Greater China, his proven ability to manage a diverse group of companies, and his personal experience in acquisition and integration of companies make him an invaluable asset to our regional team," added Pluquet. Commenting on the move, Wang said, "I look forward to working closely with Olivier and our North Asia management teams, there is huge potential for the Euro RSCG network in Greater China and the region, and we've already seen a taste of what they can do from their major wins this year. With Greater China being increasingly integrated from a business perspective and the surge in business and trade between China, Korea and Japan; creating a regional structure that encourages this growth is strategically important. I consider us the agency to watch, and I'm glad to be joining during this exciting time." Wang is expected to focus heavily on building Euro RSCG's business in Greater China, which is a very important market for the agency. A 13-year veteran of Ogilvy, Wang previously served as Vice-Chairman of Greater China where he was heavily involved in acquisition and integration of local companies into the Group. Prior to serving as Vice-Chairman, Wang was Ogilvy's Chairman & CEO of Southern and Eastern China, overseeing operations spanning Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai. In this role, his local market understanding was a key advantage in growing these offices. During his time at Ogilvy, Wang also served as Group Managing Director of Ogilvy Hong Kong, where he pushed integrated solutions that crossed marketing disciplines. In addition to Ogilvy, Wang lead the Taiwan and Greater China operations for Bates, where he is widely recognized for having established the JV partnership for Bates in the mainland. Wang will be based in Shanghai, and the announcement is effective October 1, 2008.
