OMG Appoints Ian Lee as COO for China

Shanghai– Omnicom Media Group today announced its plans to bolster senior level management within its China operations starting with the appointment of Ian Lee to the newly created position of Chief Operations Officer (“COO”) of China. Ian was previously Chief Financial Officer of Omnicom Media Group China. Commenting on the appointment, Elaine Ip, CEO of Omnicom Media Group China said: “Our business in China has developed tremendously over the past year off the back of new business wins including Pepsi, Danone and Unilever. Looking at how much and how fast we have grown,we see how important it is to bolster our top management in China with our best talents because they are the ones that epitomise the spirit and culture of our network. The newly created position of COO is our first step to be in tandem with our fast growing business momentum.” “I am delighted for Ian, who has been instrumental in the growth of our China operations for the last five years. Ian's commitment to taking our operations to best in class is exemplary. He is a great colleague and asset to Omnicom Media Group in China.” Added Ip. “I am very pleased to have Ian Lee assume this newly created role of COO. Omnicom Media Group and our agency brands, OMD and PHD are committed to investing in our people as we recognise that they are the building blocks that make our business. Ian is a talent and I have no doubt that he will excel in his new role.” Said Barry Cupples, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia Pacific. As COO, Lee will help to oversee Omnicom Media Group’s operations in China. In addition, he will also be tasked to refine the network’s fast-expanding operations in China through the development of topline strategies, systems and tools. As part of his new portfolio, Lee will also be responsible for fine-tuning the network’s organizational structure and explore possible merger & acquisition opportunities. Over the last five years, Ian was instrumental in growing the China operations from a fledgling network to one that is well regarded in the country and Omnicom Media Group China is now one of the largest within Asia Pacific. “I am looking forward to taking on the new responsibilities. We have a great team and good talent in China who share my passion for the business and the brands in which we represent.” Said Lee. In China, Omnicom Media Group and its award-winning agencies, OMD and PHD, have offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. Ian will be based out of the Group’s Shanghai office.
