She leaves Standard Chartered comms role and takes on task of growing BM's China practice

Burson-Marsteller (博雅公关) has appointed Ruby Fu(傅本君) as the agency’s CEO in China, to replace Daisy King, current President of BM China.

Fu returns to BM after having worked at the firm in the 90s as managing director in Taiwan. She joins from Standard Chartered, where she was head of corporate affairs for Hong Kong and China.

She replaces Daisy King, who has been president of BM China since 2014. King is returning to the US to continue in her role as head of BM’s China specialty practice and advise China-focused clients in other markets.

Fu has deep PR experience having started her career at Ogilvy PR in 1986. In 13 years with the agency, she held positions including general manager in Taiwan, an office she helped found, and managing director of Hong Kong and China.

She has advised several clients across many markets, with particular expertise in consumer, health care and technology.

"Ruby brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role. She is a proven leader, effective counsellor and a respected communications professional. Her understanding of public relations, as well as public and regulatory affairs, is what makes her the most qualified candidate to lead such a dynamic and promising market," said Margaret Key, CEO of Burson-Marsteller Asia-Pacific.

"We are thrilled to have her at the helm in China and look forward to seeing continued success in our largest Asia-Pacific market in 2016."

Donald Baer, BM’s worldwide chair and CEO, said: "Ruby is an expert communications strategist across a wide range of industries and is exceptionally qualified to lead the growth of the crucial China market.

"Daisy King has done an outstanding job, and we are excited to continue to have the benefit of her leadership and insight for our clients in the US and around the globe."
